Why West colonize & exploit Africa ok, but West attack China trade w/ Africa?
China is seen as a strategic competitor by the many in the West, so any attempt to increase its economic and political influence world wide or secure access to strategic resources is seen as a threat. They wouldn’t feel that way about a smaller country. But many analysts predict China will eventually overtake the US economically, if not militarily. The fact that China now owns a substantial part of the US also makes these people uncomfortable. China is looking the other way about human rights abuses of course, but the West does the same thing when it trades with China and countries like Saudi Arabia to secure cheap consumer goods or oil. And as you point out, it was not too long ago that Western countries were practicing colonialism that was just as vicious – look up the great bengali famine if you think the current genocide in Sudan is bad. I wish people would wake up and try to be more friendly with China – we will be best served in the future of Chinese children do not grow up learn
