Why were the Beatles famous?

The beatles, although big in Europe before they came to the U.S, didnt become A world wide phenomenon UNTIL they made it big in the U.S. There are many reasons why the Beatles were a hit, their music has mass appeal, it was happy music, their image appealled to woman and to many young men who felt long hair, the “mop top” look, was a good way to rebel. Many historians believe that the main reason the Beatles hit big was because of thier timing. They came to the U.S and the world at the right time. The U.S especailly needed the Beatles at that precise time in history, JFK being shot, Elvis was nowhere to be found, civil and politcal un rest, etc.,. To me, the was timing.
