Why were the babies transferred to a different hospital?
Severely ill and premature babies like the Hanselman sextuplets require specialized treatment from multiple medical and ancillary disciplines. This type of treatment is only found in Level III neonatal intensive care units like the one at Akron Children’s Hospital. More than 30 hospitals in a 17-county region transfer moderately to severely ill and/or premature newborns to Akron Children’s Hospital.
