Why were the Action Shots from the 1997 Indiana Science Proficiency Guide removed from the Indiana Academic Standards for Science?
The Indiana Academic Standards for Science writing committee did not choose to include examples in the standards document. The committee felt that one example per indicator sent the wrong message that a.) each indicator needed to be taught by itself, and b.) students need only to be exposed to one phenomenon to understand a concept. Also, the committee did not want anyone thinking that the examples were a mandate.
