Why were the ACAT legislation changes introduced?
These amendments address two issues: • To make the Aged Care Assessment process significantly more efficient and lead to a reduction in assessment waiting times. This improvement in the efficiency of the Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) will help ensure reassessments are conducted only for the people who genuinely need them. • To improve the equity of access for some forms of flexible care by allowing a person to access care at a lower level in the community.
