Why were people stoned to death?
Answer Hi Chris, People were stoned for only certain serious sins like adultery and the desecration of Shabbat. It should be noted that they had to be warned before they sinned, that if they went ahead they would be stoned. Two eye-witnesses would then have to have seen the act. Also for your information, if the court gave out a death penalty more than once in 70 years it was called a cruel court.
