Why were countries in Europe dragged into the war so fast?
It is not accurate to say that European countries were dragged into WWII so fast. There was quite a lot of aggression on the part of Germany once Hitler took power in 1933. Many Europeans, including Britain, did not feel Hitler was a European threat, indeed on some levels they liked what he had managed to do with the German economy. But then German troops took back the Rhineland in 1936. Austria was annexed by Germany in 1938. Then Albania was occupied by Italy in 1939. Poland was then invaded by Germany. It really took quite a lot of outward aggression before the other Europeans decided it was enough. was only at this point that Britain and France for example decided that they had to declare war on Germany/Italy to try to counter their aggression. Then in 1940, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, and France were all over-run. So, it is not really accurate to say that European countries were ‘dragged’ into the war, nor is it accurate to say it happened quickly.
