Why were certain Nationwide Permits suspended?
A5. It is the District’s opinion that the RPP would reduce the regulatory burden on applicants for activities that result in minimal adverse effects on the aquatic environment, individually or cumulatively. The RPP would also enhance the Districts ability to pursue the current level of review for activities that have greater adverse effects on the aquatic environment, including activities that require individual permits, and minimize the Districts burden of pursuing compliance actions. It is the District’s opinion that the RPP will provide greater consistency and predictability, quicker decisions and greater environmental protection for the regulated public.
