Why wasnt the community included in the discussions of divesture?
The Benner Township Supervisors, as the local elected community leadership, have been included in the discussions since 2002, mostly because we insisted on being a part of the discussion on this potential transfer. We had strong concerns over the possibility of unwanted and unnecessary development of this parcel. We were aware of existing studies that revealed the fragile nature of the diverse biomes that exist here. Additionally, several of the studies identified this swath as a major segment of the Countys Nittany and Bald Eagle Valleys Greenway / Bikeway Plan.
