Why was UCLA selected to conduct the Study?

UCLA was approached by the Eastern Research Group on behalf of the ATSDR with a request/proposal to carry out an independent investigation. The contacted UCLA Faculty have had extensive experience in environmental studies including contaminant transport, exposure assessment and epidemiology. Dr. Cohen who directed the contaminant pathways and exposure analysis has served and/or Chaired numerous National Advisory Committees that focused on environmental impact assessment. He served on the USEPA Science Advisory Board and was a member of the National Research Council on Environmental Studies and Toxicology.
