Why was today’s City Council meeting statement regarding cost/mile of road repair and life span so general in regards to maintaining all roads in Clawson?
The general statement was intended to describe the fiscal limitations faced by the City in a general scenario that would require us to fix, maintain, rehabilitate and/or reconstruct city streets solely with Act 51 monies. Given the need to use general tax revenues to fill the need, the question becomes one of how best to accomplish the task. In that respect, two options are presented. One is a pay-as-you go scenario and the other is to use financing alternatives. The discussion given at the meeting was intended to demonstrate the value of using funding alternatives.
