Why was there slavery?
We can actually say that slavery existed out of pure ignorance and say it not trying to insult the people of that time. During that time period, people did as they were told or did what they were told was acceptable. It was a time that standing up for your own thoughts was an action that would get you persecuted. Having slaves was a normal and not having slaves was something not considered normal.
