Why was there major conflict between the French and the British in North America?
The French & Indian war was not a major conflict. It was a sideshow to the main event happening in Europe at the time – the Seven Years War. The war in North America was about land rights – who owned which parts of North America and about the right to exploit natural resources, notably the fur trade.
