Why was there a fear of communism?
There are many souls who’ve escaped the grip of communism that could better this question than I, but it is well known that communism seeks to do away with ownership of property. Even though the theory purports to offer freedom it offers this freedom by prohibiting ownership of property. This contradicts it’s assertions of freedom. To be truly free an individual must be sovereign unto himself and as such he owns himself. The effort that he employs belongs to him. The product produced from his effort is his property, unless he sold that labor to someone else and then all that is owned is the effort made valued at the salary negotiated. This is what it means to be free. To own the fruits of your own labor is to be free. This is not possible under communism.
