Why was the Yugo frequently a target of automotive jokes?
The Yugo has probably gone down in history as one of the most poorly-built, most unreliable, and just allaround worst cars ever sold in the United States. At just a hair under $4,000, it was the cheapest new car you could buy in its time, but there was a widely-held consensus among automotive experts that if you had $4,000 to spend on a car, that you’d do much better to spend it on a used car of any other make, than on a new Yugo.
