Why was the VolPrint system started, anyway?

0

From September 2003 to March 2004, almost 12 million pages were printed in OIT labs and at the libraries. Many of the printouts are wasted, and sometimes printers are used for non-academic purposes. The money that is allocated to printing was not able to cover the increasing costs, and money that could be used on new technology and services had to be used to recover the printing costs. In order to continue to provide state-of-the-art equipment and services, VolPrint has been initiated to help cut down extraneous printing and make people more accountable for what they print.
