Why was the united nations created?

The United Nations was created in order to provide a global forum for all nations to come together and discuss issues and global problems, as well as attempt to solve these issues through global cooperation.

After WWII it was formed to replace the League of Nations and hopefully rectify the problems with it’s predecessor. Ultimately it was created to stop another massive war by providing a forum for mediation. It branched out into other areas as well. The reason people criticise it is because they do not understand it. They are under the impression that it was designed to be a world government that would prevent any conflict which couldn’t be further from the truth.
