A Six Flags amusement park being underwater is one of the more unusual sites to have emerged as a result of the Atlanta flooding, but as fatalities have risen, a far more grim picture has emerged. Not only have deaths in the Atlanta area risen to 7, according to CNN, one of those fatalities included 2-year-old boy who was washed away from his father’s arms. Atlanta station WSB-TV reported that three of the flooding fatalities came as a result of being swept away in their vehicles by the flash floods. As a result, authorities in the Atlanta area have advised residents to stay off the roads. Additionally, Georgia Gov. Sonny Purdue has declared a state of emergency, and will reportedly ask President Barack Obama to declare a federal emergency as well.
