Why was the rutherford model of atom not right and what mistakes did bohr corerect ?

The Rutherford model of the atom had the electrons orbiting the nucleus of like the planets around the Sun. This is wrong because a moving charge, (the electron), in an electric field as produced by the nucleus would emit energy. The energy would come from the electron. In effect classical mechanics states that the electron would spiral down into the nucleus very rapidly. Bohr stated that the electrons orbit in special orbitals where the laws of classical mechanics did not apply. When an electron changes its orbital it emits or absorbs energy of a specific frequency as electromagnetic radiation, E=hf. DeBroglie further refined this theory.
