Flash Player 9 better reflects the significance of the advancements to the runtime environment to our customers and the market. This also allows us to maintain consistency between the player version and the file format version as we have in previous releases. The SWF file format for this release is version 9. The features of this release remain the same; the only change is to the version number. Instead of shipping as Flash Player 8.5, the player will ship as Flash Player 9. There will not be a version 8.5 release.
