George Tiller is the physician who was shot for accusations that he was performing late-term abortions. He was shot on August 19, 1993 and sustained injuries on both arms. He was fatally shot again May 31, 2009, shortly after a not-guilty verdict on March 27, 2009 was handed in the court case surrounding unethical practice related to late-term abortions.

The killing has been condemned by both pro-life activists and pro-choice activists, including by the President of the United States, Barak Obama.
