Why was the invention of a graphical user interface a major innovation in computer technology?
From my experience as a usability expert the fact that the human- machine interface is user-friendly, understandable, easily understood and clear makes the computer interactions less frightening. In many cases the capabilities and performance of an application are great but if the users don’t feel comfortable with its interface they will not use it. Many researches found that if the user’s expectations and needs are not met (even once!) they will not use the application again.
