Why was the Endangered Species Act created?
What was the controversy, what were the two opposing sides and their views? How was the outcome accepted by the society at the time, what did it reveal about the priorities of the US citizens? And the economic effects on the timber companies in the northwest? I have found there are numerous sources online about the spotted owl controversy, many of which express the different angles of the issue as well as the ethics behind it. But a lot of the online articles aren’t very reliable sources so I narrowed down a few legitimate sources from educational websites. I browsed through a lot of the sites that came up when I googled it and found the ones by forest conservation groups and the like.
