Based on educational attainment and levels of deprivation Tamworth was initially identified as one of the three areas, along with Cannock and Newcastle, most in need of the investment. Tamworth was chosen for the early entry bid because out of those three areas Tamworth is the one that allows for the greatest difference to be made.
