Why was “Strong religiousity” was also listed in the DSM-IV as a mental disorder – until 1994.?
My brother passed away 2 years ago this month. He was diagnosed as being schizophrenic and “religiousity” was a part of his illness. When he died we discovered that we barely knew him. We had no idea of the effect that our “different” brother was having on the lives of others. The day of his funeral we went to the funeral home and found possibly 30 chairs set up in front of the casket. As the time drew closer to the service we noticed that more and more chairs were set up, were filling up, until the entire room was full. What an amazing service. We, his family, sat there and listened as people came to the podium and spoke of the kindness and generosity that Will had showed them. Others told of his testimony to them, and how it had changed their way of thinking.
