Why was Site licensing discontinued?

0

The Site License option was designed to simplify counting and offset the price of server-concurrent connection (SCON) products (such as earlier versions of NetWare). The SCON license model required a license for every connection made to a server. The Site License option allowed the customer to license by workstation, so even if a single person connected to multiple servers, they would still only need one license for their workstation. When the User license model was introduced into NetWare 6.0, the Site License option became unnecessary. Under the device model, customers who benefit from device-based licensing can purchase specific products under this model. See www.novell.com/licensing/eula for details.
