Why was robespierre executed?
It finally came to a point where too many people felt safer opposing him than supporting him. This was a ruthless tyrant who acted like he thought of himself as a god, and habitually executed his opponents if he could find any, or anyone else if he could not. As his opponents dwindled in number, the rest realized that they were going to be executed sooner or later if this madman was left in power. In other words, his “Reign of Terror” became so pervasive and arbitrary that even his friends did not feel safe, and the incentive to avoid execution by appeasement evaporated.
