They embraced the uncluttered style of the ancient Greeks. 4. Aristocrats replaced monarchs and the church as patrons of the arts. They demanded new forms of music to entertain them. 5. The minute and gavotte emerged in dancing. Serenades and divertimenti(after dinner music) became new forms of entertainment. So the question would be “What affected music in the Classical Period”?
