Why Was Neil Armstrong The First Person To Walk On The Moon And Why Not Buzz Aldrin?
The reason Neil Armstrong was the first out of the LEM to the moon was that it was the position that he held on board the space craft. He (I think, but I may be wrong), was the commander, and as such was traditionally the first person off the ship. Also, he was the closest to the hatch. Buzz Aldrin would have had to climb over him to get to the hatch to be the first out. BUT the biggest reason was rank and tradition. That is what Neil and Buzz both said.
