Why was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi killed?
Although two men (Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte) were convicted and executed for the murder, suspicions remained that a larger conspiracy was involved. Godse was said to be mentally unstable, and was among those who blamed Gandhi for the partition of India (creating India and Pakistan, with the resultant turmoil and loss of life). Gandhi had many political opponents, and some in his own party who disagreed with his methods, although those methods were certainly honorable in their intent.
