MASCOUTAH — Mid America St. Louis Airport’s financial woes and lack of business will receive another dose of national publicity Tuesday when “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” broadcasts a segment on the struggling $313 million airport. The news program is set to start at 5:30 p.m., and the segment about Mid America is scheduled to begin about 5:45 p.m., according to an NBC producer. An NBC news crew last month taped interviews with Mark Kern, the St. Clair County Board chairman, and Tim Cantwell, the airport director, as well as County Board member Craig Hubbard, R-O’Fallon, a vocal critic of the county’s oversight of the airport, which has lost money every year since it opened in 1998.
