Why was John Kennedys administration called “Camelot”?!!!!?
After John Kennedy’s assassination, it came out the “Camelot” had been his favorite musical, in part because he associated the world of Arthur as presented in that musical with his own administration. Many media folk accepted that analogy. Kennedy’s administration had been rather glittering, and it had come to a tragic end. So the term was used quite a bit. What Joe McCarthy was doing was witch-hunting. He claimed that all forms of Communism were wrong and that anyone who had even been associated with any group that was associated with Communism was as bad as a Communist. People who were so accused often lost their jobs. Many entertainers fled the States. Blackballing became common in many industries. If you were accused of ever being soft on the communists, and weren’t also publicly acquited, it became very difficult to find a job.
