Film producer, John Heyman sought an actor for the leading role who spoke English without an accent. Heyman and his staff screen tested 263 people before selecting England’s Brian Deacon to play the role of Jesus. Mr. Deacon was chosen because of his ability to portray Jesus as Luke the physician documented him in the Gospel of Luke. All other actors in the film are from Israel and surrounding areas.
