Why was Hitler Ruler of Germany if he was so evil?
His evil only became slowly apparent, this was a time when there was no freedom of the press and speech. He became popular only when the great depression kicked in by when the German people were open to a strong charismatic leader who promised to regain for them the respect that they felt they had lost at Versailles. Hitler as a leader was very populist and via Goebbels a propaganda expert who could project Hitler in the best possible way. Part of his plan was to silence dissent and he blamed all the problems that Germans faced on Jews and communists and anyone except poor leadership. The propaganda backed this up and naturally overstated his every achievement and therefore made the Jews look they really were the cause of Germany’s problems. Secondly his evilness was incremental. The Nuremburg Laws of 1935 barred Jews from German citizenship and public jobs and made them wear the star of David on their clothes at all times.
