Why was greek theatre invented… why did it start?
Greek theatre wasnt invented.It began as a form of worship to the greek god dionysus.It was peisistratus of athens who established the great dionysian festival.basically legends and mythical stories were woven in to dramatic form.which was tragic form.a group of 50 men known as the chorus who would sing and dance choral odes known as dithyrambs.(this continued until thespis introduced the 1st actor) this was the beginning of greek theatre.The main theme of these tragedies was to convey to the rustic audience that in life the middle path is best,because the higher you go the harder you fall.Hence the legends that were chosen dealt with royalty or great warriors.the Trojan war and the Theban legend are favourites…hope this helps…
