I can see that I certainly did not make clear what the scriptures reveal about offerings. So here we go. Here is what we know: First of all we are told that “Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord” (Genesis 4:3). Next we are told that “unto Cain and his offering [the Lord] had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell” (verse 5). Why “unto Cain and his offering [the Lord] had not respect”??? We are told why: “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin [Hebrews Strongs #24043-CHATTAAH-a sin offering-compare Exodus 29:14-“. . .it is a sin offering-Strongs # 2403] lieth at the door. . .” (verse 7).
