Why was Brazilian soccer star Bruno Fernandez arrested?
According to reports, Brazilian goalie Bruno Fernandez is a chief suspect in the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Eliza Samudio.
Fernandez is one of Brazil’s most famous soccer players. At 25, he was accused of arranging the murder of his ex-girlfriend after she became pregnant and refused to have an abortion. Supposedly, Samudio became pregnant after their first encounter last year at a party.
Fernandez is being charged with taking her to a village outside of Rio de Janeiro, beating her, and then arranging her murder. He allegedly hired someone to kill her and feed some of her body parts to a dog.
Brazilian politicians are worried that the murder will upsurge violence against women in Brazil.
