Why was Bill Clinton almost impeached?
It was a completely political thing. From before Clinton was elected, Republicans began accusing him of crimes. During the election it was some kind of fraud having to do with a failed land development deal called Whitewater. They never proved anything–in fact they never really described what it was that he’d done wrong. Once he got into office, they accused him of firing White House staff for no reason (which, of course, EVERY president does–he lets go certain of the staff hired by the previous president). They accused him of letting campaign contributors sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom (another thing EVERY president does). One of his staff members committed suicide and the Republicans claimed Clinton had him killed. Another leading Democrat died in a plane crash and of course Clinton did that too.
