Why was 0bama against NAFTA sending jobs to Mexico yet supportive of Mexicans coming here unchecked to take?
NAFTA devastated Mexico. People were driven into poverty by a U.S. imposed “trade agreement” that opened up the border to invasion by U.S. corporations like Monsanto. That drove the already poor into destitution. So, what we’re seeing is people coming over here to escape the horrendous conditions the U.S. created. Saying “Mexicans are taking American jobs” is erroneous. It’s the companies that are replacing U.S. workers with people they can exploit more easily due to the fact that they’re not protected by the same laws that protect “documented” citizens. As for illegal immigrants affecting “medical costs”, that’s simply false. In short, you’re blaming the wrong people for your problems. Illegal immigration is a reciprocal effect of U.S. policy. If you’re concerned with U.S. workers losing their jobs, you should advocate for regulation to hold corporations accountable for their actions.
