For more than a decade, the Wagner College curriculum has focused on connecting students and coursework with the needs of the surrounding community. Each year, the college’s 1,850 undergraduate students invest about 80,000 hours in course-related internships and community service projects. The idea of the Port Richmond Partnership is to focus those energies onto the needs of a single community, where the college can realistically expect to make a measurable difference in the overall quality of life. What will happen? Under the partnership, Wagner will connect specific academic departments and courses with specific agencies, so that professors and students will become familiar with the work of their partner organizations and become progressively better able to serve the community’s needs.
