Why use today=s workplace technologies in BTE classrooms?
The above examples of today=s workplace technologies is only a small fraction of what is available today and what will be available within 5-10 years. Employees will be expected to have the necessary skills to use the technological tools of the workplace. BTE classrooms are the logical starting point for our future generation of employees. Using today=s workplace technologies in BTE classrooms reinforces the SCANS skills and competencies. These technologies promote higher order thinking, requiring the students to analyze and interpret data. They also further advance independence, responsibility, and self-management skills. Using advanced technologies such as the Internet and World Wide Web give students the opportunity to experience diverse cultures through Aelectronic@ field trips.
