Why use pancreas derived from animals?
Glandular therapy has been used as far back as the ancient Greek and Egyptian times on the premise that “like heals like”. People would eat the organs and glands from animals that corresponded to the weak areas of their bodies. Although modern pharmacology has enabled us to isolate and extract certain components of glands in order to make patentable drugs, many doctors still prefer using the whole gland because it seems to be better absorbed and utilized by the body, enhancing the function of the human gland that it is addressing. Today both cow and pig pancreatin are being used extensively.
