Why use hardwoods and avoid MDF for shutter manufacture?
MDF is a great substance for items that have very limited movement. Most homes have MDF skirting boards, radiator cabinets or window sills but those items do not have the same strains and stresses that a shutter will endure. Quite simply MDF is compacted sawdust and glue and does not have the same durability and strength as a high quality hardwood such as poplar or elm. Our shutters are competitively priced to ensure that while you will be paying slightly more than MDF, you will be installing a product that has a substantially lower risk of problems and costs revisits after the initial installation.
