Why use handcrafted soap rather than commercial soap?
Handcrafted soap differs from commercially produced soap in that it retains all the results of the saponification process, the term used to describe the chemical reaction required to produce soap. Glycerin is naturally produced by this reaction, however the glycerin is removed in the commercial process for use in cosmetic lotions, etc., resulting in a soap that can, and usually does, dry out your skin. The bars of soap you purchase in a grocery store are actually solid detergent! Handcrafted soap retains the natural glycerin from the saponification process, therefore, producing a more skin-loving soap. Handmade soap does not have harsh chemical additives or detergents that can strip away the natural oils from your skin and it retains the moisture in your skin.
