Why Use a Shower Water Filter?
The reason for using a shower filter is to remove chlorine and volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) from your shower water. Removing chlorine from your shower is a healthy thing to do for the following reasons: • Chlorine is absorbed through your skin, especially in a hot shower, when your pores are wide open. • Chlorine vaporizes in a hot shower and is easily absorbed by your lungs. • The same soap scum that forms on your shower also gets on your skin and hair, which makes for dry, brittle hair, and dry, wrinkled skin. Another advantage of a good chlorine shower filter is to minimize soap scum accumulation on the shower surfaces. Be sure your shower filter uses KDF-55 filtration media to gain this benefit. One filtration media to avoid in shower filters is carbon. Carbon does not last long in high volume applications like the shower. In addition, carbon tends to be less effective in hot water.
