Why unhappily married men wouldn’t get a divorce?
Men are sometimes reluctant to get a divorce for various reasons. The man often comes out of a divorce financially worse off, is often the one who is left looking for a new home, even if he has made the greatest financial contribution to the purchase of the marital home, may end up paying maintenance to his ex-wife and his children for years to come, giving him effectively the expense of running two homes in the future, and placing a financial sanction on him and any future family he may have. A divorce in England still has to have someone “at fault”, and this is normally him, even if the “blame” is simply used as a legal device to facilitate the divorce.
