Why try to expand now when there is an economic downturn?
Knowing that the library would be too small for a growing community like Atascadero, Friends of the Library has planned for expansion ever since the current library opened more than 20 years ago. Almost $1 million has been raised already. In addition, county matching funds could be lost if Atascadero does not proceed. Another advantage to expansion now is that construction costs are low.
