The mp3 format is inferior to cd audio, and other audio formats such as wav and shn. This is an endless topic of debate and a great explanation can be found here. MP3 is a lossy compression scheme that achieves compression by discarding information that’s mostly imperceptible to the human ear. An endless amount of audio recordings are readily available in MP3 format via the internet, but should not be traded on CD because they do not preserve the integrity of the recordings. Trading MP3 sourced discs compromises quality and pollutes the trading scene. A telltale sign of an MP3 sourced disc is the presence of “clicks” between tracks (although cross fading the tracks can remove the clicks). If you have any MP3 sourced discs on your trade list, be sure to clearly distinguish them from non-MP3 material. Personally, I enjoy listening to MP3s and have made several discs of MP3 sourced material for my own use, but I do not trade them. Quite simply, the latter is inappropriate for audio tradin
