One of the most common misconceptions is that buying a made-to-measure product is what makes them so expensive. Wrong! The principal cost can be found in the choice of wood used to make the blind and the headrail system. DIY stores deal solely in Balsa woods (very low quality) where as most made-to-measure products are made from hardwoods. There is a significant difference in quality, similar to comparing a house made from wood and one made from brick! The headrail will also contribute towards the cost of the blind. Wood blinds are heavy when the wood slats are stacked together. To operate the blind and ensure even weight distribution, a quality headrail system is needed and sufficiently thick cords and ladder braid. Whilst it is true that made-to-measure products cannot benefit from the economies of scale in mass manufacture, it is still the case that the overall price of Timber Venetians will be dictated by quality of wood used.
