Why three YCC divisions (Open, Girls, Mixed) instead of two (Open and Girls) or one (Mixed)?
This was another issue that was thoroughly discussed. The argument made in favor of only a mixed was that if boys weren’t encouraged to recruit girls in order to participate then girls Ultimate would become stagnant. The argument made in favor of all three was that there were some youth who prefer to play on single-gender teams while there are others who prefer to play on mixed teams and that USA Ultimate should offer all three divisions. Ultimately, it was determined that we are capable of offering all three. We felt that we should begin by offering all three. In the future if we find that the divisions hamper growth the YAC will reevaluate which divisions USA Ultimate should offer at the YCC.
